VETPAC is committed to protecting and enhancing American democratic values and institutions . As we fought side by side in equal danger, so we are committed to equality of opportunity, equality under the law and equality of our rights and obligations as citizens. Equality also demands equal access to the ballot, the most basic foundation of democratic rule. We are committed to open, truthful and transparent governance, especially on matters of war and peace, where too often we have borne the terrible consequences of the failure to practice these virtues. As veterans we understand the need to respect diverse individuals and points of view, to promote civility in political discourse and to come together for concerted action to address difficult problems. We understand that a strong middle class is the foundation of our democracy, a middle class created by our fathers and grandfathers, the veterans of World War II.
Therefore, VETPAC supports:
• Equality of opportunity and treatment both in and out of the military regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin or sexual orientation.
• A level playing field between labor and management as essential to a strong middle class and prosperous nation.
• Protecting civil liberties while enhancing domestic security.
• Greater government transparency, especially on issues of national security.
• Measures to increase voting participation including easier absentee voting for service men and women, early voting, same day registration and strict enforcement of laws against vote suppression and fraud.
• Greater bipartisanship and civility in public discourse so the many serious and difficult problems the nation faces can be addressed and resolved in a spirit of shared sacrifice.
